Warming hysteria grips Sydney mayoral contest

The global warming hysteria shows no signs of abating, with the apocalyptic fever now raising its head in the race for the Sydney mayoralty.

The battle for Lord Mayor of Sydney has narrowed down to a two horse race between the incumbent independent Clover Moore and the Labor nominee Meredith Burgmann.

The Liberal candidate Shayne Mallard, and the Greens’ Chris Harris are considered outsiders.

Burgmann was the former president of the NSW Legislative Council who controversially ordered the removal of the Queen’s portrait from her personal office, the Parliamentary dining room and the parliamentary foyer.

The arch-Republican now has her sights set on another politically correct cause – global warming.

At a candidate’s forum in Sydney this week (as reported on ABC TV news last night), Burgmann announced that her major priority as Lord Mayor would be to stop global warming.

Has Burgmann been in Sydney this year?

First, the city recorded its coolest summer in 10 years.

Then it had its coldest August in 64 years.

Now Sydney has just recorded two consecutive days of seven degree minimums – the coldest in 13 years.

But Burgmann believes the biggest priority for Sydney is global warming.

Try telling that to the voters as they stand in line with their beanies, scarves, coats and gloves on election day tomorrow.
