I’m not well up on Aussie history; nor am I sure which Hobsbawm you mean. I hope it isn’t the E.J. one who (for example) regarded the deaths of tens of millions in the USSR as ‘deleterious’ to what he called socialism, meaning of course the Jewish-supremacist mass murder variety. Hobsbawm is a near-perfect illustration of an ‘historian’ with a secret agenda, namely promotion of his racist cult. He’s a modern version of ultra-nationalist historians around the world who omit unjustifiable deeds by their own side. He’s also as might be expected an utterly third-rate mind – his books are simply plagiarised from sources he approves. Revisionist-minded people will find some consderbale amusement from his repetitive nonsense.
My issue is that this is exactly what Rudd wants:
Hobsbawm praises Rudd’s courage in recognising the depth of the present crisis. However, he thinks Rudd underestimates the difficulty of what now needs to be done.
As Howard said: policy should not be in the middle of an argument it should be in the mainstream of the argument (median?)
Cheers,
Mish
