Howard tells Libs to stay with Turnbull

John Howard

The Herald Sun reports that former prime minister John Howard has said that Malcolm Turnbull is “the man to lead the Liberals against Mr Rudd”.

“It’s always difficult the first couple of years in Opposition after you’ve been in government for a long time, that is the case for any political party,” Mr Howard told the Herald Sun yesterday.

“There is a tendency in public when they change the government to give the new man a lot of slack and that’s what they are doing, they are giving the new man Rudd a lot of slack.

“But that will end, that won’t go on forever and my colleagues basically should keep that in mind.”
