Nile calls abortion policy “inhumane”
Rev Fred Nile
The Rev Fred Nile, leader of the Christian Democratic Party in the NSW Parliament, issued this media release today:
Australian women are safer aborting their own babies. Multinational Marie Stopes Intl. has succeeded in “convincing” the Federal Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) that in the interests of preventative health, Australian women are safer killing their own children.
Marie Stopes Intl. have successfully argued that the definitions given under the special licensing agreements for Abortifacient RU486 should be re-defined to allow more liberal application of the drug. The re-definition now recognises pregnancy as a “life-threatening or otherwise serious” illnesses.
Jill Michelson, Marie Stopes National Clinical Adviser, stated “what is undeniable is the fact that the risk to a pregnant woman of induced abortion is much less than the risk of continuing a pregnancy through to delivery at term. We argued that continuance of pregnancy would … also involve greater risk of injury to the physical and mental health of the pregnant woman.”
The Rev Fred Nile, leader of the Christian Democratic Party, and pro-life campaigner has condemned this new policy as inhumane.
“I am shocked that the Australian Government has succumbed to this. This is yet another attack on the sanctity of human life. Yet another case of controversial public legislation being passed and then re-written by bureaucrats behind closed doors.
To try and define the miracle of early human life as some sort of life-threatening illness is morally and ethically reprehensible. Children are a gift, our future, not a commodity to be bought, sold and disposed of at will.
We must protect those who can’t protect themselves. I call on the Prime Minister and Health Minister Nicola Roxon to prevent this inhumane dangerous policy because of the harm that the RU486 drug can cause to a womans body and the desctruction of the baby in the womb,” stated Rev Fred Nile.
