Trioli caught mocking Barnaby Joyce?

ABC2’s News Breakfast this morning ran the above grab of Nationals’ senate leader Barnaby Joyce just before crossing to Canberra reporter Hayden Cooper for comment on federal politics.

But, as you can see, program co-presenter Virginia Trioli was caught making a little gesture when the camera cut back to her.

Trioli, had interviewed the Queensland senator about an hour earlier.

Was Trioli making a statement about what she thought of Senator Joyce’s call for Climate Change Minister Penny Wong to resign if the Opposition’s ETS amendments are taken up by Labor?

Or was Trioli reacting to the quality of the clip? Joyce’s awkward use of the word “dictum” came across somewhat clumsily. A better selection could have been made (view the interview), but that assumes, of course, that the ABC would want to run a more effective grab of Barnaby Joyce on this issue.

  1. I consider it,to use a military term,Conduct Unbecoming and yes the ABC should dispose of this totally inept” front shiela”.

Did I hear her say let’s get realistic here? She was talking
to Barnaby Joyce. Barnaby Joyce and realistic is an oxymoron.

  3. Charles, please, Virginia is intelligent, articulate, unbiased, unbigotted, if you don’t believe me, look at interview…..er….no…..no…..no, don’t look. I meant to say DON’T look at the video. (sarc/off).

She is a joke and MUST be sacked. Her behaviour is unprofessional for a start!

  4. [...] Virginia Trioli’s effort against Barnaby Joyce in which she characterised him as crazy for holding a dissenting opinion on [...]

  5. ABC complaints have been sent a message as per below.

Virginia Trioli’s reaction, when interviewing Barnaby Joyce this morning was absolutely atrocious and should be condemned and she should be counseled or dismissed. Her personal feelings should in no way colour her position on a tax-payers funded television programme, and by taking no action, the ABC will be condoning her biased opinions.

The reaction I refer to is the ear circling action and face contortions that inferred Barnaby Joyce has a mental illness. In laymans terms – she indicated Barnaby Joyce was a nutcase. The image of her performing this disgraceful act is now a web wide talking point.

This is a gross disregrad for the ABC charter of unbiased and balanced reporting, and you can be sure that if no action is taken by the ABC – this complaint will be taken further.

    Disgraceful!

If no action is taken by the ABC – I will take it to a higher authority. I urge all to do the same if they believe triolis actions were biased and childish. I believe the editorial team for the Australian Conservative believes in unbiased reporting.
