The Netherlands – a multicultural mess
A 10 October column by Ezra Levant in the Toronto Sun describes the multicultural mess that liberal Holland has become.
“Sharia law rules the streets,” Levant writes, pointing out how sexually liberated Amsterdam has run directly into conflict with another leftist ideology – multiculturalism.
According to Levant:
If you think Amsterdam is the gay capital of Europe, you’re half-right, but 10 years out of date. Today it’s the gay-bashing capital of Europe.
Because Amsterdam isn’t just gay. Now it’s Muslim, too. A million Moroccans and Turks have immigrated to the Netherlands, and sharia law rules the streets.
If you doubt it, then you haven’t been paying attention. Actually, that’s not fair. Gay-bashing is front-page news only when it’s committed by a straight, white male.
It is deliciously ironic that one of the Left’s most favoured “victim” groups is bent on the destruction of another. It is a situation that has paralysed the liberal elites.
Levant recalls the murder of Marxist professor Pim Fortuyn, the slaying of film-maker Theo van Gogh, the threats against Ayaan Hirsi Ali and reports on the plans of chairman of the National Moroccan Council to re-educate Geert Wilders should the case against him succeed.
