Australians won’t be fooled by ALP-Greens posturing, Lib federal director says

“If Julia Gillard was serious about rejecting the Greens and their policies she would end Labor’s alliance with the Greens NOW, not a few weeks before the next election,” the Liberal Party’s federal director Brian Loughnane wrote yesterday in an email newsletter.
“If the Greens were serious about rejecting Labor, they would end their alliance with Labor NOW, and let the people of Australia have their say.
“Who do they think they are kidding?
Mr Loughnane described the Labor-Greens’ row as an attempt by the ALP “to say and do anything to cling to power”. As the next election draws closer, Labor are becoming even more desperate, Mr Loughnane wrote.
“The latest example is the phony dispute between Labor and the Greens over preferences at the next election.
“The fact is Labor and the Greens are currently in a formal, signed alliance to govern Australia.”
Mr Loughnane said the Labor-Greens’ government has delivered:
•The job destroying carbon tax,
• The dismantling of Australia’s border protection regime and
• A mining tax that penalises our most successful export income earning sector.
“Everyone knows Labor and the Greens will go to the next election pretending to be separate, unrelated parties. What else can we expect given their cynical ‘whatever it takes’ approach to politics?
“Only the Coalition can provide the strong, stable, predictable and accountable Government Australia needs to build the economy and restore hope, reward and opportunity to help all Australians get ahead again,” Mr Loughnane wrote.
